IT Support Engineer Job Openings in Vancouver

Hosted Advantage is looking for IT support engineers to join our expanding support team in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, imaginative, innovative, easy to work with, and excited to learn new, bleeding-edge technologies.

The Support Engineer will be a part of the Managed Services team, which handles colocation and various managed service solutions for a wide variety of customers, ranging from small to enterprise-levels. In this Operations role, one will interface directly with the customers and collaborate with internal teams to complete projects. This is an active, hands-on role which relies on problem solving capabilities and self-reliance.

Summary

The Support Engineer is responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of the Data Center and the ownership of customers’ communications (email or phone).

They will monitor the central environmental monitoring system and report any failure or alarm to the appropriate person. The support team is responsible for the resolution of hardware issues and deployment of new systems. A key responsibility is to ensures that any changes in our Data Centers are tracked properly.

They need to clearly identify the customer’s needs, document each request in the ticketing system and dispatch to the appropriate site or person for execution. The support team will follow up on each request

Duties and Responsibilities:

Daily operations and maintenance of the Data Center
Ensure optimal communication between customers and technical teams from the opening to the closing of every ticket
Deploy, setup and maintain hardware from various manufactures
Perform initial triage and assist senior level engineers in troubleshooting customer problems including Windows and Linux server environments
Administer vCenter and other Virtual environments including: (i)Creating and deploying virtual machines, templates, and clones (ii) Monitoring (iii) Managing VMs, including using snapshots (iv) Troubleshooting VMs and environment
Configuration and troubleshooting of switch ports based on existing standards
Identify storage bottlenecks
Monitor and respond to critical issues related to Data Center equipment
Apply security policies and procedures
Provide onsite support for device troubleshooting to include power cycles/reboots, cable testing/replacement, and media handling support
Provide on-site vendor support for maintenance, break/fix, and/or upgrades
Manage RMAs with manufacturers
Responsible for asset management: process deliveries and replenishes consumables
Participate in all aspects (electromechanical, maintenance, security, etc.) of HA owned Data Centers

Education

College diploma in Information Technology, or equivalent experience.

Relevant experience

3+ years of experience as a Data Center Technician, NOC Analyst, Enterprise IT support engineer or similar

Skills and Experience

Experience with physical configuration and maintenance/troubleshooting of Enterprise/Data Center level hardware.
Very good understanding of IT systems including but not limited to servers and network systems, including knowledge of Cisco and Dell switching technologies
Strong understanding of Virtualization especially VMWare
Experience with Firewalls is advantageous
Experience with DAS, NAS and SAN. In particular Isilon, Cohesity, Qumulo and Pure Storage knowledge is advantageous
Knowledge of data center lexicon
Ability to follow specified policies and procedures
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable working in a fast paced 24*7 environment with flexibility to work after-hours and weekends when needed
Experience with Windows and Linux based operating systems.
Knowledge of electrical and HVAC technologies
