The Yukon Department of Education’s IT portfolio consists 325 office based staff working primarily on Windows devices using the corporate IT infrastructure (network, systems & services) and 750 classroom based staff across 14 communities in 40 locations supporting 5600 learners using Apple devices on the Department of Education’s education IT infrastructure (network, systems & services) in a K12 environment.
This position will encounter a wide range of complex education technology business systems and services where the technology infrastructure specialist will analyze and solve problems, provide change management and participate in or lead IT projects for education.
Reporting to the Director of Information Technology and Support Services (ITSS), the Technology Infrastructure Specialist provides intermediate level (level two) IT infrastructure design, implementation, administration and support services.
This position works in collaboration with our infrastructure team consisting of another level two specialist position and a level three architect position and provides support and mentoring to our level one IT support team consisting of a helpdesk / assistant support technician, five IT support technicians and one education hardware specialist / support technician.
ITSS is looking for an energetic, responsible, self-starting, team focused team member who will deliver a high level of service and education technology support for an ecosystem designed to provide anytime, anywhere, 24/7/365 services to K12 learners across the Yukon.

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the following qualifications. Please note selection for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.Degree in computer science or related discipline.
Minimum of 2+ years providing level one IT support in an enterprise environment (500+ employees)
Minimum of 3+ years of level 2 IT support and system administration experience building, configuring, integrating and administrating IT systems and services in an enterprise environment. (500+ employees)
Demonstrated recent experience with several of the following: Scripting languages (Powershell, Python, BASH), database design & querying with SQL, Active Directory, Windows servers, Office 365, identity & access management, SAML, federation, automation, operating system and software configuration & deployment, ITIL fundamentals, network fundamentals, data center fundamentals, storage, virtualization, cybersecurity fundamentals and disaster recovery;
Recent IT project management experience
Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability
Candidates should have and may be assessed on the following:Technical knowledge: Encompasses those skills and abilities within a specialty area(s) of Information Technology required to deliver products and services that support business processes
Technology Infrastructure & Platforms: Knowledge and ability to support the enterprise computing infrastructure in the provision, management, storage, operation, scheduling, support and maintenance of the infrastructure.
Security / Information & Application Protection: Knowledge and ability to ensure there are adequate technical and organizational safeguards to protect the continuity of IT infrastructure services by implementing IT security principles, methods, practices, policies and tools.
IT Support Troubleshooting: Addresses problems reported by system and users and determines solutions
IT Project Management- Knowledge and ability to apply formal project management principles and practices during the planning, implementation, monitoring and completion of projects, ensuring effective management of scope, resources, time, cost, quality, risk and communications.
