, Toronto Lead Agency and a progressive Children’s Mental Health Centre serving adolescents and their families in East Toronto for over 40 years, is inviting applications for the following part-time contract position:
Youth Wellness Programs Animator and Administrative Support Part Time Position (approximately 20 hours/week), to start approximately January 2, 2020 ending no later than March 31, 2021
The Youth Wellness Hub Animator and Administrative Support serves as a liaison for youth to access clinical and community services in the Youth Wellness Centre. This individual will help youth feel welcome and connected to the diverse range of services offered in the Youth Wellness Centre while providing administrative clinical support to the Integrated Collaborative Care Team, consisting of partner agency staff (e.g., drop-in staff, financial literacy staff, service navigator). This position will require the individual to rotate between sitting at the reception desk completing administrative tasks and being present in the youth wellness programs/activities space and actively engaging and connecting with youth and families.
Responsibilities:Animate the Youth Wellness Centre by engaging with youth accessing the Wellness Centre (e.g., creating a welcoming space, introducing youth to opportunities in the space, linking youth to other service provider in the space)
Create a warm and therapeutic milieu while youth and families are waiting for service
Educate youth and families on role of the Integrated Collaborative Care Team and the variety of services and programs available at the Youth Wellness Centre
Register youth and families to the walk-in service and input in our Client Record system.
Respond to and prioritize referrals from emergency departments, Youthcan Impact research project, primary care providers and community agencies
Support day to day data collection functions including; fidelity measures, clinical measures, and other data relevant to the project and evaluation.
Book appointments for the Integrated Collaborative Care team and understand how to prioritize needs of clients
Operate phone and fax system and provide high level of communication for inquiries related to services.
Oversee day to day operational aspects of the program (providing snacks, attending to waiting room amenities, ordering office supplies).
Maintain professional standards in accordance with EMYS policies and procedures, Canadian Center for Accreditation (CCA) standards and relevant legislation.
Qualifications:Post-secondary education in a related field;
1 years’ experience working within a hospital or community-based child and youth mental health centre;
1 years’ experience working as administrative assistant;
Exceptional interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, and excellent written and communication skills with proven ability to handle confidential information;
Demonstrated effectiveness in engaging youth and families around service integration and direct linkages;
Demonstrated skills in decreasing service access barriers when working with marginalized youth;
Can work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize demands, and remain calm, flexible, engaging and professional;
Evidence of confidence in working with youth and families in crisis including experience in de-escalation;
Technological aptitude is required;
Understanding of data input, extraction, Excel, and basic graphic design for marketing materials;
Comfortable communicating with partners and stakeholders including drop-in staff, financial literacy staff, peer workers, youth workers, social workers, and primary health care workers;
Nonviolent crisis intervention (CPI) and First Aid training is an asset;
Must have experience and feel confident working with diverse communities including the LGBTQ community;
Preferred candidates will be bilingual in both official languages;
This position is part of the UFCW 175 bargaining unit Classification: Part-time Contract Hourly rate: $23.96 Work Location: Primarily East York and sometimes Scarborough, Ontario Hours of work: approx. 20 hours – schedule below (may change to meet the needs of the programs and services): Monday: 3:00pm8:00pm – 5 hrs. Wednesday: 3:00pm – 8:00 pm – 5 hrs. Thursday: 3:00pm8:00 pm – 5 hrs. Saturday: 10:00am3:00 pm – 5 hrs.
