Reporting to the Global Director, Marketing and Communications, the Global Marketing and Communications Officer supports Right To Play’s communication portfolio and is a key player in the achievement of the marketing and communications objectives of the department. The position will support the Global Marketing and Communications team to deliver best-in-class communications content, products and campaigns and ensure timely information sharing across Right To Play. The position will support in stewarding the brand by providing guidance on the correct use of the Right To Play brand internally as well as externally.
The position will be based in Toronto with an estimated 5%- 10% international travel required.
Job Responsibility #1: Writing and Producing Quality Communication Products (30% of Time)Plan, develop, edit and write content for a variety of marketing and communications products and assets, including monthly newsletter, annual report, stories and social media
Oversee end-to end design, development and production of Right To Play’s annual report in collaboration with colleagues within the Global Marketing and Communications Department, National and Country Offices and other relevant departments
Job Responsibility #2: Internal Communications and Knowledge sharing (30% of Time)Support the development and implementation of internal communications strategies and plans
Create and implement concrete initiatives and processes to facilitate timely sharing of information and updates throughout the organisation
Regularly engage with all units of the organization including Programs, Monitoring and Evaluation, Country and National Offices to ensure relevant content, products, assets and other information created by them are available and updated for use by Global Marketing and Communications and other departments as needed
Facilitate regular interactions with field offices to gather and develop compelling impact stories and reports for use in marketing and communications including for digital publication, annual report and newsletter
Ensure all content, marketing and communications products and assets created by different parts of the organization are regularly collected, collated and stored for easy use and access
Ensure regular communications with relevant departments in order to keep them informed of available content, products and assets created by marketing and communications teams in the field and in fundraising offices
Serve as key point of contact for internal sharing of relevant information, products, assets and content generated by Global Marketing and Communications team
Coordinate ongoing planning, agenda co-ordination and shaping of monthly Global Communications calls and ensure active participation on these calls
Job Responsibility #3: External Communications and Media Outreach (20% of Time)Proactively coordinate media outreach to global media outlets including drafting press releases and pitching stories
Identify opportunities to position Right To Play CEO and other spokespeople in global the media
Regularly monitor, analyze and communicate media results for Right To Play International and generate regular reports
Support planning and implementation of international media visits to field projects in coordination with field offices
Build and maintain a robust international media contact list
Job Responsibility #4: Global Partnership Communications (15% of Time)Ensure development and creation of all communications deliverables as outlined in select donor and partnership agreements
Ensure agreed-upon deliverables are included in reporting to donors and partners
Contribute to the development of communications plans for partnership and donor proposals
Job Responsibility #5: Perform other Duties as Assigned (5% of Time)
EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION:Minimum of an undergraduate Degree in Communications/PR/Marketing or related field
EXPERIENCE:Minimum of 5 years experience as a communications professional in corporate or non-profit communications
Minimum of 3 years experience in media relations, communications and brand management required
Experience writing and editing for multiple products and platforms including websites, social media, marketing collateral and feature stories
Experience in overseeing end-to-end production of marketing and communications products, particularly annual reports and newsletters.
Direct experience supporting internal communications within multi-layered context
Demonstrated success in securing earned media with top level international media outlets
Demonstrated success in contributing to development and successful implementation of communication strategies.
Demonstrated success in delivering communication projects within deadlines
COMPETENCIES / PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:Creative thinker, excited by fresh approaches to communications
Adaptable to different communications situations and demands
Comfortable in a collaborative environment, able to listen actively, open minded and open to constructive feedback

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:Exceptional writing skills, able to write for different platforms and uses including narrative storytelling, and marketing products
Well-honed editing skills with an eagle eye for spotting errors and inconsistencies
Excellent working knowledge of the global media landscape and experience in media outreach
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills
LANGUAGES:Excellent written and spoken English. Ability to work in a second language (French) is an asset
